"Queen's Blade" has generated excellent internet buzz and positive comparisons to our smash hit "Ikki Tousen." Like "Ikki," everyone fights everyone else. And clothing? Well, it doesn't stay on very well in this world. Here, fighting has just as much to do with the ripping off of clothing as it does with punching and kicking.

Based on the "Queen's Blade" series of visual combat books and the PSP game, this action-packed anime series centers on a ferocious -- and often bloody -- tournament of women warriors held once every four years. Its outcome will determine who will become queen of the land. According to tradition, the strongest warrior will expand the kingdom and continue to rule the country. The contestants need only be older than 12 years; they need not be human, intelligent or even of that country. The rules for the tournament are simple: murder is allowed; and any weapon may be chosen. The winner is decided when one of the participants flees or can't move anymore. The event is broadcast through a crystal sphere by the court's magic teacher for all of the population to see and enjoy. High-born Reina enters the contest, despite her inexperience. She is befriended by a feisty veteran fighter, Risty. Together they fend off dangerous beasts, extraneous clothing and treacherous opponents to reach their goal.
