Maria and Jodie are fighting in their room. Maria has accused Jodie of stealing and wearing her ring. The din rises to such a level that it eventually brings Headmaster Tom to their room. Although Jodie insists that she has not stolen the ring, Maria is soon able to prove to Headmaster Tom that she is lying. And the punishments for those lies are such that not only does Headmaster Tom take the cane to Jodie's bottom, he also allows Maria her turn.
