Robin is a lonely, shy young sketch artist who does volunteer work for a local theater group - No one even notices her. Then, she suddenly feels like a celebrity when her drawings come to life, talk to her, and become the friends she'd always longed for. Her "new companions" cheer her on day and night, and she discovers she is actually able to speak subconsciously to the real people through her sketches of them. After being evicted, Robin dreads returning to Minnesota to face her martini-guzzling mother. She discovers her only hope to be with the man she loves is through a door in her supernatural world.
